2023Forward Flagship Summit 2022
In December 2022 we were finally able to go ahead with our Forward Flagship Summit in Berlin! As we did not want to lose our international character; our first hybrid event was put into motion.
As the world of work is in a continuous and accelerating state of change; and organizations are adopting agile working methods to better serve their customers and be more flexible, but often undervalue the focus on people in transformations, we chose this theme:
Happiness as the “Why” in Agile Transformations.
Our international keynote speakers, Sunny Grosso, Svenja Hofert, Franciso Mahfuz and Debra Corey approached our theme from different perspectives. We invited experts to bring real-life case studies and facilitators led mini-workshops for deep exploration of the topics. Add a Glühwein reception, a dinner and loads of networking activities – on and offline and we had an absolute blast!
In the end, 200 participants from across the globe came together to achieve one common goal: happier employees for more successful organizations.
Summer Summit
On June 2, 2022 we hosted a one day virtual Forward Summer Summit on the “Great Employee Experience Awakening”!
This Summit wasn’t your average (virtual) conference. We aimed to create an experience with the participants as a central component and gave attendees tangible tools to work on Employee Experience in their organizations by learning from expers and working together in groups to solve EX puzzles.
Forward Virtual 2021
While the global pandemic continued to prohibit us from executing our Berlin plans, we continued to build on the virtual success of 2020. The second Forward Virtual Summit was held from 1 – 3 December 2021. This time, we also added a virtual workshop day for those looking for an even deeper and hands-on learning experience. Our workshops ranged from facilitative leadership to a workshop on removing resistance in (Agile) transformations.
We expanded the conference with more tracks and more engagement – we attracted some notable speakers from different fields – Jurgen Appelo spoke about his UnFix model; Nand Kishore Chaudhary, famous Indian social entrepreneur and CEO and founder of Jaipur Rugs – explained how he built an empire on compassion and innocence. Rob Catalano inspired us with a dazzling keynote on improving employee engagement through uncertain (and remote) times. Roman Pichler gave us a synopsis of all his leadership lessons from 20 Years in Product Management. This summit provided an in-depth learning experience for audiences from diverse backgrounds, allowing them to curate and personalize their paths.
We also had a virtual world to connect with other attendees and explore Management 3.0 principles, complete with a DJ and well-being sessions.
2021Forward Virtual 2020
In November 2020, we followed up with a two-day virtual summit dedicated to redefining management & Leadership, an online conference to share knowledge and network in an interactive setting with like-minded peers.
Those determined to transform themselves as a leader were given in-depth, practical examples of how to do this by, for example, Richard Atherton’s techniques for emotional growth.
Specific case studies on Agile HR transformation by British Telecom and HSBC were presented, allowing participants to take away their learning and use it to transform their place of work.
And for those nuggets of inspiration – we had two “Best Places To Work” Winners! Tom van der Lubbe of Viisi – a true visionary AND Tristan White, The Physio Co.! Learning from them allowed us to circumnavigate the globe – from The Netherlands to Australia – without ever leaving our home offices.
Forward Virtual 2020 wasn’t only about learning; it allowed us to meet new friends and clients in carefully curated networking sessions. And also, in fun, we did not lack – Ralph van Roosmalen led fantastic Management 3.0 games virtually, and Julian Kea & Cori Moore shared serious games.

Forward Webinars
We planned our first global celebration of leadership and management innovation for May 2020 in Berlin – but boom – covid threw our plans into turmoil – BUT we didn’t sit on our hands and starting in July 2020, we experimented with the Forward Webinars, where six experts discussed various topics – from how to build and mindfully lead teams, create feedback systems that work, understand why happiness at work is not a luxury, and explain how to lead change.
All of this was taught under the umbrella of our signature principle: “Manage the system and not the people,” and showing how this translates in real life.
